Marble

According to danish interior magazine RUM, marble is the new black. I've never been a big fan of marble, but these lamps are really something. Actually quite nice. From A+A Cooren Design Office, called ORBIT-SPOT.

Check out the (in my opinion) coolest illustrator in Norway - Esra Roise. She has, among many things, done illustrations for Wallpaper*. Illustration above is one of my favorites.

Tangled Alphabets

In 2009 I visited the exhibition “Tangled Alphabets”  by Leon Ferrari and Mira Schendel, at MoMA in New York.  Prior to the exhibition I wasn’t familiar with neither Ferrari nor Schendel, but it didn’t take long before I was a fan.

MoMAs description of the artists:
León Ferrari (Argentine, b. 1920) and Mira Schendel (Brazilian, b. Switzerland, 1919–1988) are considered among the most significant artists working in Latin America during the second half of the twentieth century. Their works address language as a major visual subject matter: the visual body of language, the embodiment of voices as words and gestures, and language as a metaphor of the worldly aspect of human existence through the eloquence of naming and writing.

You can still get hold of the exhibition catalogue at MoMA Store.

Ballfinger

Fun! Designed by Roland Schneider. Love the clean design, and think the head of the lamp is genious. You can get Ballfinger as tablelamp, floorlamp and ceiling/wall systems.

Pop it up

Even though it’s children books, I think the pop up books by David A. Carter is amazing. In the pics above you get a little preview from the book “600 Black Spots”. You can see more in this video.

You can get “600 Black Spots” and the other books from the series at Amazon.

Organized

Organized things look good. Check out thingsorganizedneatly.

Junk Art Air Max

The artist Gabriel Dishaw has recreated the Air Max 2011 in a recycled technological style. Among many things the shoes also consist of old computer parts and a 747 airplane oxygen mask. Kinda cool.

Soulfood

A big shout out for the talented norwegian photographer Christian Houge! Great guy and fantastic pictures. The two first pictures are from the "Okurimono" project, the last one from "Evolution". He's done several big projects - take look at his site for more.

Cool coffee

I'm one of those suckers who often buy stuff based on cool packaging. Not a big fan of iced coffee, but if I had seen these in the store - I would definitly have bought them.

These are made by Jessie Whipple Vickery at Kunstkraft. Cold brew bottles for Stumptown Coffee.

And these are designed by Boheem for One Tree Coffee Co, boutique Espresso Bar in Newcastle.

Current obsession

I have a thing for old industrial lamps - more specificly, the Jielde lamps designed by Jean-Louis Domecq in the 1950s. Let's have a look...

I think it's a beauty. The branches, the beautiful base and the finishing touch with the hoop around the head... The lamp pictured is actually on it's way to me right now. Bought it at an online auction. So excited.
